It was a beautiful day in Seattle today and so we HAD to take the boat out.
We enjoyed the company of our neighbors Jim & Simone as we spent the day boating on Lake Union & Lake Washington.

6 months ago, I thought I was going to be at Tough Mudder Seattle with Tyler and friends today.  But alas, it was not to be due to my recent knee surgery.  Instead, I got a little wet and finished building my pool table light (pictures coming soon).

Volleyball  Last night, Lake Stevens rolled over Mount Vernon in their league opener winning in 3 straight sets.
That puts the Lady Vikings at 6-1 on the year thus far.  Tomorrow night's game against Snohomish (Yvonne's alum) should be exciting and will test Lake Stevens as the team has a few of their starters nursing injuries (Molli & Kendall).
Go Viks!!!

  September 23, 2012
So I got it in my head this weekend that I needed to make a custom light to hang above my pool table.  After drinking a few beers last night, I drew up the plans and this morning I went to Home Depot to pick up the necessary supplies.
I thought it would be fun to document this little project with some stop motion video, so I setup my laptop in the garage and captured an image every 5 seconds.
Here is the result.

The pool table light is still a work in progress, but most of the 'hard work' is done.  This video shows approximately 6 hours worth of work rolled up into 2 minutes & 25 seconds.
I'll post the finished product when it is complete.  Stay tuned...

VolleyballThe Lake Stevens Lady Vikings secured another win last night on their home court pushing their record to 4-1.
Prior to their match, I talked briefly with the Everett Herald Photographer and predicted that he would probably be taking more pictures of the Laky Vikings than of Stanwood's Lady Spartans.  It turns out, I was right.

Here's a brief description of Gary's first hand account of this mole's demise.
"I had just finished watching Season 2/Episode 3 of 'The Walking Dead' and icing my knee when I figured I'd go stretch out my knee and pick a few raspberries in the back yard. When I saw that the mole trap had been sprung, I didn't think much of it because the two traps that I have been setting for the last 2 weeks have been tripped every day, but without any luck in catching the varmint...Until today.
I celebrated by picking and then eating a big bowl of freshly picked raspberries.
Woo!!!"

Okay, here's another video from our Coeur d' Alene vacation.  This one stars Ron Payseno and a day's worth of wakesurfing (footage from July 31, 2012).

The first summer of TTHQ with Mom & Dad as (semi-)full time residents comes to and end tomorrow.
  TTHQ Summer Goodbye
  Dad writes:
"Gary:
Mom and I are heading south tomorrow after a terrific 5 weeks here at TTHQ. We’ve had phenomenal sunny weather. Wood stacked, chairs weighted down, driveway completed, fire pit cleaned out and landscaping finished and ready for fall/winter.
Notice how the Escalonia is growing tall and thick, blocking the retaining wall and view under the deck. Makes for better aesthetics.
Motor home all serviced, and ready to go.
On our way home, we’ll be stopping for a few nights at Greg & Carli’s and also at Bill & Melissa’s. RV parking pads at both places, which makes it super nice.
Mom and I have had a wonderful summer.
Love,
Dad"

And introducing the official pastor of TTHQ...
  TTHQ Pastor
  Dad writes:
"Gary:
Here’s a pic taken Sept. 2nd with me and mom with Carl Wohlwend, our pastor at Gleneden Beach Christian Church.
Pic taken after 10:30 AM service. Pastor Wohlwend in his eighth year at GBCC.
His sermons are easy to follow and it’s like swinging on the front porch with him when he preaches.
Love,
Dad "

  2012 Boating Log.
  Pre-Entry One
  June 11, 2011 - Marysville, WA: Gary
I picked up the boat at Shane & Teresa's place after work today.

  Boating Log: Entry One
June 15, 2012 - Lake Stevens, WA: Gary, Yvonne, Scott, Jodi & Jackson
  Evening Wakeboarding & Swimming
  Air Temp: 70° / Water Temp: 68°
Notes: Gary took the day off from work today to summerize the boat.  Scott wakeboarded (naturally he landed his one and only back flip) & Gary waksurfed with no knee pain.
While we were out on the South side of the lake, we picked up a 6' x 2" x 8" board with nails sticking out of it. It appeared to be from someone's dock.
The late afternoon/evening boating was cut short as Jodi had to go to the Emergency Room with what appears to be a kidney stone. Jackson may be staying the night with us, depending upon how things turn out with Jodi.  Get well soon Jodi!

  Boating Log: Entry Two
July 7, 2012 - Lake Stevens, WA: Gary, Yvonne, Alexis & Lindsey (aka 'Mas o Menos')
  Afternoon Wakesurfing
  Air Temp: 78° / Water Temp: 70°
Notes: Lots of boat lounging followed by wakesurfing.  If anyone asks if Lindsey is a wake surfer, I can honestly say, "Mas o Menos"
BTW - Today is the day we picked up Lex's 'new' 2004 6-Speed Mini Cooper, aka 'Bradley Cooper'

  Boating Log: Entry Three
July 26, 2012 - Lake Stevens, WA: Gary, Yvonne, Jan & Darlene
  Afternoon Cruising & Wakesurfing
  Air Temp: 77° / Water Temp: 77°
Notes: Lots of boat lounging followed by wakesurfing.  We saw Mike & Kerry in their AR230 and they ended up taking video of Gary & Yvonne wakesurfing from their boat.  Cool!

  Boating Log: Entry Four
July 26, 2012 - Lake Stevens, WA: Gary, Yvonne, Scott, Jodi, Colton & Jackson
  Evening Tubing & Wakesurfing
  Air Temp: 75° / Water Temp: 77°
Notes: Before jumping onto the superman tube, Colton bragged to everyone and (especially Gary) about his tubing skills and that he has yet to be bounced off a tube.  Gary took that as a challenge and decided to give Colton a real tube experience. 25 seconds into his first ride of the day, Colton was no longer on the tube. For those of you keeping score at home, that's Gary 1, Colton 0.

  Boating Log:Entry Five
  July 28, 2012 - Coeur d' alene, ID: Gary & Ron
Afternoon Boat Launch, Test Drive & Evening Mechanical Fixing
  Air Temp: 81° / Water Temp: 78°
Notes: We launched the boat and drove to '16 to 1 Bay' (next bay over) and back. While on the phone with Yvonne trying to identify the rental house from the lake, the front line (3/8" double-braided nylon) got sucked up the jet intake and wrapped itself around the port impeller. We spent 45 minutes of troubleshooting in the water and eventually trailered the boat. From the boat launch, with help from a nameless Mr. Handyman and his tools, we were able to free the line from the impeller shaft.

  Boating Log:Entry Six
July 29, 2012 - Coeur d' alene, ID: Gary, Yvonne, Alexis, Ron, Heidi & Paige
Our First 'Official' Day On The Water
  Air Temp: 88° / Water Temp: 73°
Notes: The boat problems of yesterday are in the rear view mirror. Yvonne was the first one to wakesurf, followed by Alexis, then Paige, Ron & Gary. Paige got up, but then fell shortly thereafter. Ron was a surfing machine and had a good run on just his second attempt.
We had lunch on the water in Rockford Cove, followed by tubing by Paige and Alexis on one and two tubes. Alexis and Paige switched tubes on one run.
After tubing, we stopped at the Rockford Cove Marina for ice cream.

Cruised the Spokane River and admired the homes, landscapes and docks.
Gary & Ron wakesurfed on the Spokane River and under the I-95 bridge...Woo!!!
Yet another beautiful day on the lake.

  Air Temp: 67° / Water Temp: 69°
Notes: We launched at the 14th St. boat launch in Seattle (plenty of trailer parking today).   We cruised Lake Union and explored lots a marinas with big yachts. Gary swam a lap around the boat just outside of Sam & Mary Lou's houseboat (not sure if they still live there).  Opened the boat up on Lake Washington and moored briefly at Marina Park in Kirkland for a bathroom break (next to Anthony's Homeport). EZmental Note: Mooring at the marina is free for 3 hours.  We wrapped up our lake Washington excursion by cruising by all the construction going on next to the 520 bridge.
