Dan, Vic & I worked a 9 hour shift yesterday to decommission our Cisco 6509 Router.
|In this image you see the new networking rack & equipment on the left and the shorter 'old' networking rack and equipment on the left. The cabling in the new rack is a little messy in this picture as it was taken half way through our network equipment migration.
EZTip-of-the-day: It's okay to get messy before you get cleaned up.
This is what the 'old' Cisco 6509 router looks like with all the cabling removed. Now we can surplus this half network rack and equipment and replace it with a full rack. Woo!
Over the course of the last week after work, I installed two new 20 Amp Circuits in the garage. That means we no longer have to run an extension cord from the garage to the dining room when we use the treadmill anymore. Woo!
EZfun fact: It's been almost 8 weeks since Gary's knee surgery and he can now walk 2.2 mph for 90 minutes.
It also means that the workbench and the garage refrigerator are are no longer getting their power from multiple extension cords run all along the floor. Double Woo!
The Lady Vikings finished the regular season in 3rd place with a record of 5-3 in league play, 10-4 overall. The playoffs begin this Tuesday. Playoff highlights coming soon...
Alexis (#3), front and center, has been the Lake Stevens starting Libero all season. Woo!!!
Last Wednesday at work, there was a double rainbow in downtown Everett.
October 23, 2012
Last night, Alexis' Vikings played a tough Paige's Bearcats team for the final game of the regular season.

Tonight, Lake Stevens defeated Arlington in inter league play. That pushes the Lady Vikings league record to
5-2, and 10-3 overall.
|Alexis had a great game tonight as her serves accounted for 27% of all Lake Stevens points which includes 9 aces. Audrey had a pretty good game too as she recorded 15 kills.

October 17, 2012
| With 2 divisional games to play, the Lady Vikings are tied for second place with Snohomish High.
Lake Stevens overall record is 4-2 in league, and 9-3 overall.

EZVideo Time. Gary & Ron Wakesurf the Coeur d' Alene River.
I must have had too much caffeine today because I decided to speed up the tempo a bit on this vacation video.
Also, I spiced up my introduction & anchor to this and future videos. Enjoy!
It was Roller Derby Night in 'The O.C.' last Saturday night.
Glenn & Dinah Baxter and me and mom went to the Santa Ana Rollerdome tonight and witnessed live 'Roller Derby' action.
Here's a pic of me and Captain Hook'r of the O.C. Roller Girls.
Unfortunately, O.C. lost to L.A. 231-163.
Lots of 'Jammer' and 'Blocker' action on the oval bank.
Lots of action and much fun. Woo.
|About a week and a half ago, Dunlap Industrial Hardware on Marine View Drive held their annual appreciation lunch
Free food = Woo!!!
|After eating a nice big bratwurst dog, I talked to and watched this wood carver work on his latest carving. He said it takes him a good 8 hours to complete one bear.
It was pretty interesting to see how he worked as he used 6 different chainsaws in just the 15 minutes that I watched him.
October 13, 2012
We woke up this morning to overcast skies and lots of rain. N...G...!!!
Why, it seems like only yesterday (actually 2 weeks ago) when I was swimming in Lake Union.
Yesterday I got a great voicemail from Dad about one of his softball buddies (Click play to listen).
|Accompanying the voicemail were these two emails:
Me and the great Tony Germinaro, 1962 USA Golden Gloves Middleweight Boxing Champion. Compiled an overall ring record of 100-3-1, while winning 13 championship titles.
Tony’s a native of the Boston area (Haverhill). He was quite a celebrity there in the late 50’s and early 60’s. Had several big scrapbooks of his athletic achievements. He ran track, co-captained the HS football team, was a New England Ping Pong champion and also ran the 100 yd. dash in 10.2. Tony was also a star senior league softball player in his heyday. Had scrapbook items of him dining with Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford, Gus Triandos, Elston Howard, Roger Maris, etc. in 1961 at a sports banquet.
Tony is one great guy.
The robe he has on is his 1962 Golden Gloves USA robe, which he has preserved. You can see him grinning from ear to ear with pride.
Pound for pound, Tony is one tough champion and a dear friend of mine as well as so many others.
Here’s a marvelous boxing championship title belt from the early 60’s won by my Senior League softball friend, Tony Germinaro.
Tony was the 1962 USA Golden Gloves Middleweight champion.
Had a wonderful time at Tony’s home today looking at all of his boxing memorabilia, followed by BBQ lunch.
Tony won 13 different New England and east coast championships while compiling a 100-3-1 overall record.
Went 5 rounds with ‘Sugar Ray’ Robinson, ending in a draw.
Fought at Boston Garden and Madison Square Garden.
Great friend and compatriot.
I also got an email from Dad regarding a VW Corporate Lease Vehicle Services Policy Update
"Due to the urgent need for low-mileage pre-owned vehicles, the special lease rate term will be reduced to 6 months from the current 12 months. After 6 months in service, vehicles at a special lease rate will revert to a 1.5% rate. If your vehicle is eligible for replacement, please submit an order for a new vehicle from the available vehicles list on eTag by no later than your current vehicle’s 4th month in service or November 15th, 2012. Once you have placed an order, in the event that your new vehicle is delayed the lease rate on your current vehicle will not increase to 1.5% at the 6th month, and will remain at the discounted rate until your new vehicle arrives. This policy also applies to vehicles leased for other eligible family members."
|Since we've had our 2012 VW Passat for almost 5 months, we had Dad place an order for our next car.
Our next VW will be a 2013 VW Tiguan AWD (pictured above)...a great winter vehicle. Woo!!!

|If you watch carefully, you'll see Alexis giving Sara hand signals on who to pick on...I mean...who the weak passer is...aka - who to serve to.
This is just another example of how Alexis' game is evolving.
Other Alexis Highlights: Great Passing, Tomahawks, Hits, Sets, Saves, & Serves for Aces.
October 9, 2012
While putting the finishing touches on winterizing the boat today, I saw Stetson wandering aimlessly on our street. All I had to do was say, "Here Doggie" and he came running over.
He's a very friendly and mellow dog, with a big tongue.
After putting a rope around his collar, calling the number on his dog tag and talking to the lady who owns him, I played catch with him for the 10 minutes it took for her to drive by and pick him up.
Apparently, this is the third time that he has dug his way out of their yard.
October 8, 2012
Well...it's that time of year to winterize the boat. So why not capture some stop motion video of Gary 'Doing Work' as the back of Lex's Lake VBC t-shirt says.
|The weather has been great for the past month plus (atypically sunny and warm for September & October), but it's going to turn soon, so why not take a few days off of work and winterize it when the weather is so good. It sure beats working on it when it's cold and dreary out.
Besides, my knee is still healing, so there won't be any more wakesurfing for me this year.
By the way, the knee is feeling pretty good.
And what better way to start the day than with a Marysville Sunrise Stop Motion Video
Wake up and enjoy this beautiful weather...Woo!!!
October 7, 2012
It was 'work in the yard day' today.
First stop, Sunnycrest Nursery to pickup a yard of beauty bark.
|Then you pull weeds and spread it in the front yard flower beds, in between Seahawks plays of course.
Seattle was on the road and defeated Carolina, 16-12. Woo!
Then you move to the backyard and work on the south side flower beds.
Finally, after pulling weeds and spreading beauty bark all afternoon, Scott calls and Gary's asks, "Want to shoot some stick?"
Scott said "yes" and we shot a few rounds.
Despite the Huskies loss to Oregon last night in Eugene, Bo still enjoys lounging on a Sunday morning with their blanket.
It may not look like the most comfortable way to lay on the couch, but it works for Bo.
October 6, 2012
EZReveal: Gary has finished building and picturing the Pool Table Light. Actually, I finished building, painting and hanging it last weekend, I just hadn't gotten around to printing out the pictures to fill in the frames.
That's a mini-volleyball on top of the light, courtesy of Alexis. You see, at every Lake Stevens home game, each of the starters throw out a team autographed mini-volleyball into the crowd. The one on the light just happens to be the very first mini-volleyball Alexis threw out at their home opener as the starting libero for the Lady Vikings. Woo!!!

Tonight, Alexis' Lady Vikings suffered their first conference defeat of the season against Paige's Monroe Bearcats. Individually, Alexis and Paige played very well and that is why tonight's game highlights focuses on them. Enjoy.
Circle the date...Oct. 22nd...that is when these 2 teams play again in the season finale...which may determine who will be the WesCo North Conference Champion. Stay tuned...

| Last night, Lake Stevens defeated Arlington in 3 straight sets. Alexis' beach partner Audrey Frolich plays for Arlington and had a good game, but Alexis and and her teammates secured bragging rights.

For as long as I can remember, the first thing Bo & Daisy (especially Daisy) do in the morning is tip over the trash can in the bonus room and scatter it's content all over the floor. I don't know how this came to be part of their morning routine, but for whatever reason, it is just something that happens within 1 minute after letting them out of the guest room.
It's been 4 weeks since my knee surgery.
I still have some swelling in my right knee, but I am able to walk up and down stairs without the aid of handrails. Woo!!!

2012 Boating Log.
June 11, 2011 - Marysville, WA: Gary
I picked up the boat at Shane & Teresa's place after work today.
Boating Log: Entry One
June 15, 2012 - Lake Stevens, WA: Gary, Yvonne, Scott, Jodi & Jackson
Evening Wakeboarding & Swimming
Air Temp: 70° / Water Temp: 68°
|Notes: Gary took the day off from work today to summerize the boat. Scott wakeboarded (naturally he landed his one and only back flip) & Gary waksurfed with no knee pain.
While we were out on the South side of the lake, we picked up a 6' x 2" x 8" board with nails sticking out of it. It appeared to be from someone's dock.
The late afternoon/evening boating was cut short as Jodi had to go to the Emergency Room with what appears to be a kidney stone. Jackson may be staying the night with us, depending upon how things turn out with Jodi. Get well soon Jodi!
Boating Log: Entry Two
July 7, 2012 - Lake Stevens, WA: Gary, Yvonne, Alexis & Lindsey (aka 'Mas o Menos')
Air Temp: 78° / Water Temp: 70°
|Notes: Lots of boat lounging followed by wakesurfing. If anyone asks if Lindsey is a wake surfer, I can honestly say, "Mas o Menos"
BTW - Today is the day we picked up Lex's 'new' 2004 6-Speed Mini Cooper, aka 'Bradley Cooper'
Boating Log: Entry Three
July 26, 2012 - Lake Stevens, WA: Gary, Yvonne, Jan & Darlene
Afternoon Cruising & Wakesurfing
Air Temp: 77° / Water Temp: 77°
Notes: Lots of boat lounging followed by wakesurfing. We saw Mike & Kerry in their AR230 and they ended up taking video of Gary & Yvonne wakesurfing from their boat. Cool!
Boating Log: Entry Four
July 26, 2012 - Lake Stevens, WA: Gary, Yvonne, Scott, Jodi, Colton & Jackson
Evening Tubing & Wakesurfing
Air Temp: 75° / Water Temp: 77°
Notes: Before jumping onto the superman tube, Colton bragged to everyone and (especially Gary) about his tubing skills and that he has yet to be bounced off a tube. Gary took that as a challenge and decided to give Colton a real tube experience. 25 seconds into his first ride of the day, Colton was no longer on the tube. For those of you keeping score at home, that's Gary 1, Colton 0.
Boating Log:Entry Five
July 28, 2012 - Coeur d' alene, ID: Gary & Ron
Afternoon Boat Launch, Test Drive & Evening Mechanical Fixing
Air Temp: 81° / Water Temp: 78°
Notes: We launched the boat and drove to '16 to 1 Bay' (next bay over) and back. While on the phone with Yvonne trying to identify the rental house from the lake, the front line (3/8" double-braided nylon) got sucked up the jet intake and wrapped itself around the port impeller. We spent 45 minutes of troubleshooting in the water and eventually trailered the boat. From the boat launch, with help from a nameless Mr. Handyman and his tools, we were able to free the line from the impeller shaft.
Boating Log:Entry Six
July 29, 2012 - Coeur d' alene, ID: Gary, Yvonne, Alexis, Ron, Heidi & Paige
Our First 'Official' Day On The Water
Air Temp: 88° / Water Temp: 73°
|Notes: The boat problems of yesterday are in the rear view mirror. Yvonne was the first one to wakesurf, followed by Alexis, then Paige, Ron & Gary. Paige got up, but then fell shortly thereafter. Ron was a surfing machine and had a good run on just his second attempt.
We had lunch on the water in Rockford Cove, followed by tubing by Paige and Alexis on one and two tubes. Alexis and Paige switched tubes on one run.
After tubing, we stopped at the Rockford Cove Marina for ice cream.
Boating Log: Entry Seven

Yvonne, Ron & Alexis wakeboarded.
Another beautiful day on the lake.

Cruised the Spokane River and admired the homes, landscapes and docks.
Gary & Ron wakesurfed on the Spokane River and under the I-95 bridge...Woo!!!
Yet another beautiful day on the lake.
Boating Log: Entry Eleven

Boating Log: Entry Eighteen
September 2, 2012 - Lake Stevens, WA: Gary, Ron & Bryce.
Air Temp: 70° / Water Temp: 75°
Notes: Gary had one wakesurf session. He had to ride 'goofy' as his right knee is very NG. Surgery is in 2 days. Ron & Bryce each had 2 good surf sessions. Between rides, we drove to wakeboard cove and showed Bryce the house with the big 'R'.
Boating Log: Entry Nineteen
September 30, 2012 - Lake Union & Lake Washington, WA: Gary, Yvonne, Jim & Simone.
A day on the water
Air Temp: 67° / Water Temp: 69°
Notes: We launched at the 14th St. boat launch in Seattle (plenty of trailer parking today). We cruised Lake Union and explored lots a marinas with big yachts. Gary swam a lap around the boat just outside of Sam & Mary Lou's houseboat (not sure if they still live there). Opened the boat up on Lake Washington and moored briefly at Marina Park in Kirkland for a bathroom break (next to Anthony's Homeport). EZmental Note: Mooring at the marina is free for 3 hours. We wrapped up our lake Washington excursion by cruising by all the construction going on next to the 520 bridge.
